New: ice hockey rink
Haarlem has a new central area with a gigantic ice surface of around 3,400 m². This ice surface is multifunctional and can be divided into an ice hockey rink with official boards and a 30×60 meter rink for figure skating and short track.
‘dedicated’ hours for ice hockey
During “dedicated” hours, you and your friends are allowed to train intensively or play a match in full gear on the new ice hockey rink. The hours reserved for this are:
- Tuesday from 9:30 PM to 10:45 PM
- Thursday from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM (for youth up to around 18 years old)
- Thursday from 9:45 PM to 10:45 PM
Access to ‘dedicated’ hours for ice hockey
Everyone is welcome to play ice hockey on the rink during the special hours. All you need to do is purchase a regular admission ticket at the counter or online. Keep in mind that others will be there as well, so communicate and coordinate with each other about who will do what. Of course, you’re also free to play a game of ice hockey together. Protective gear, including a helmet and gloves, is mandatory during these hours.
Ice hockey light during public hours
During regular public hours (free skating), both ice surfaces in the central area are open to everyone, forming one large ice rink. You’re allowed to casually practice with a puck and stick on the ice hockey section. Small goals are available for this. But keep it fun and friendly—there are always other skaters on the ice. So, just to be absolutely clear: it is not allowed to go full out in full gear during these times.
No ice hockey if ice floor is crowded during public hours
If the rink is very busy, the ice rink may decide that pucks and hockey sticks are not allowed at that time.
