The Ice Rink Haarlem is Closed for the Summer Season
October 4 Opening Ice Rink – Season 2025-26


Kras Sport is the skating school at the Haarlem Ice Rink. They offer lessons for all levels, from total beginners to experienced skaters. There are classes for kids, teens, and adults. During school holidays, Kras Sport runs intensive skating courses with two one-hour sessions. It’s a fun and fast way to get the hang of the technique.

At Schaatssport Haarlem, the skate rental and shop at the ice rink, you can rent figure skates, ice hockey skates and speed skates. The store has a wide variety of skates for sale. They also offer a large selection of skating clothing and protective gear, like helmets. You can even get your skates sharpened, bended and/or rounded

If you want to do more than just a few laps and seriously work on your fitness, Kras Sport Xtra might be for you. Once or more a week, you’ll hit the ice with experienced trainers to skate a solid number of laps. At the same time, you’ll be improving your skating technique. During the summer seaons Kras Xtra organizes bike trainingen.

Skating is not a dangerous sport, but make sure to follow these guidelines: never skate without gloves, wear a (bike) helmet or, if you don’t have one, a hat. Don’t skate with bare ankles. Cut-resistant ankle protectors are the best choice. Also, for your safety, make sure to follow the rink’s rules.

The Ice Rink Haarlem can be easily reached by train. From Bloemendaal Station, it’s a 10-minute walk to the ice rink. From Haarlem Station take the local train (‘Sprinter’) towards Alkmaar/Hoorn. It’s just a ride of less than five minutes.

At Maarten’s Café-Restaurant at the Ice Rink Haarlem, you are warmly welcome to enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or softdrinks, beer, or something stronger. You can also order a hot meal, sandwiches, toasties, French fries, and much more.

Next to the Ice Rink Haarlem is the Ibis Styles Hotel Haarlem. If you’re coming to Haarlem this winter to go ice skating, you can almost stay right next to the rink. Haarlem also has a beautiful city center: a great tip for an active and fun weekend getaway?

Bavarian Curling is a wonderful team experience at the Ice Rink Haarlem. The aim of Bavarian Curling is to throw the ‘Eisstock’ across the ice to get as close as possible to the “Daube” (puck), just like curling, pétanque or jeu-de-boules. The game is played in teams of 4 players against each other. An inspiring outing for teams or a (family)groups.

On Saturday and Sunday evenings, you can participate in long track speed skating competitions. On Monday evenings, marathons are organized in Haarlem. Speed skating competitions are open to both young and old, and you don’t need to skate like a pro to take part in the races or marathons, just join an skating club and start training.


Figure skating in Haarlem

Figure Skating Club Haarlem (KSVH) has a large and successful group of figure skaters who train for competitions under the guidance of top coaches. Short Track Speed Skating

Short track is a fast-paced sport. You’ll learn how to do amazing crossovers in the corners. You can train with Shorttrack Haarlem on Thursdays and Sundays. However, you should already have some basic crossover skills in the bends. You can rent short track skates, a helmet, and other protective gear from Shorttrack Haarlem.


Training Facilities for Elite Ice Skating and International Teams in Haarlem

The Ice Rink Haarlem has dedicated hours for top speed skating in Haarlem. During these hours, skaters can train unhindered at top speed on the 400-meter track. For this reason, the number of participants per training is limited.

Foreign skaters and international (professional) speedskating teams are welcome to train in Haarlem on these dedicated hours. Training during public opening hours is also possible, but one has to be mindful of other skaters.

The dedicated hours are on Tuesday (5:00 – 6:00 PM); Thursday (5:00 – 6:00 PM) and Friday (6:00 – 7:15 PM)
